The Garden Zadar Opening Weekend

Date: 05.05.2011.

The Garden Zadar opening weekend : Friday May 20th - Sunday May 22nd

It's only a few weeks now until we open The Garden gates for its 8th season on Friday 20th May, and we are looking forward to seeing old friends again and meeting new ones too.
...
The Garden first opened in the summer of 2004 & is located in the beautiful small city of Zadar, on the ancient walls overlooking Zadar Marina. Whether you have been to Zadar before or not watch this short film as it shows the city better than we could ever describe in words.

For the opening weekend we will be welcoming back Garden residents Bobby Beige & Dean 'Sunshine' Smith, so whilst reading the rest of this newsletter click on their names & listen to some Garden grooves to get you in the mood.

At 8pm on 20th May we will be popping the champagne corks & nibbling on a few canapes before moving onto the Maraschino shots & cocktails (note: since 1821 Maraska have been producing the original Maraschino liqueur in Zadar, made from a local marasca cherry & enjoyed over the years by Ernest Hemingway, Orson Welles, Charlie Chaplin, King George V, Alfred Hitchock & us)

Last year we opened the small restaurant area, with food created by Head Chef Ivan Buovac from Hotel Bastion. There are only a few tables so we do recommend reserving in advance by emailing [email protected]
(not available on the opening night).

Getting to Zadar
For the opening weekend there are Ryanair flights from Fri - Sun for 75.00 return, direct from London to Zadar. For all other flight information have a look here.

You can now pre-book your taxi online for your arrival at Zadar airport with Taxi Lulic & all their taxis are metered. For those of you who maybe flying with a group of upto 8 friends to other Croatian airports then we can recommend Shuttle Tours to provide your transport

Sleeping in Zadar:
For those of you coming over and needing advise for accommodation in the city for the weekend please email [email protected] and we will send you some suggestions. The beautiful Hotel Bastion is literally a stones throw away, directly behind The Garden but there are other options too in Zadars old town that we can personally recommend.

Garden Sailing
We have just got back from a 3 day sailing trip organised by our good friends at sailing.hr around the Kornati Islands, which was the perfect way to re-charge the batteries. The yachts vary in size from 6 berth to 10 berth and leave from Zadar in the morning with 2 nights out at sea & with 3 full days of eating, drinking, swimming and chillin on the menu - it was the perfect wind down.
We stopped off enroute at a couple of great restaurants, recommended by our friendly skipper, sampling the local line caught fresh fish accompanied by great wine.........it was perfect, and we highly recommend it! Check out "Garden Sailing" for full details.

As always - lots of love,
The Garden Family
