Following our sell out MAYA JANE COLES show we’re proud to announce a monthly residency at Brighton’s number one nightclub AUDIO this year. We kick off on May 4th by joining forces with our friends at The Garden Festival and having one of the headliners from this summer’s event come and play – DAVID AUGUST.

David’s rise to fame has been speedy following a number of huge releases since 2008, first on DIMMER then STIL VOR TALENT until more recently signing to SOLOMUN’s fantastic DIYNAMIC label. The massive ‘You Got To Love Me’ is a stable in many a DJ’s Top 10 this year.

We can’t wait to welcome The Garden Festival back to Schtumm! and David along for his first gig in Brighton alongside our resident MAXXI SOUNDSYSTEM who’ll also be setting sail for Croatia in the summer.

 

DAVID AUGUST

When DAVID AUGUST was just 17 years old, he could already claim to not only have played with Carl Craig, but also alongside names such as Format B, Troy Pierce and Oliver Koletzki. Now at only 21 he’s playing all over the world alongside SOLOMUN on Diynamic tours, and will feature heavily this summer at some of the worlds biggest parties and festivals.

We're not going to draw comparisons between the 21 year old and the likes of Mozart or Barenboim, that'd be silly, but for someone of such tender years he certainly has a grown-up and progressive style. His productions reflect his true love for good music and knowledge of the structures of music, learnt from the age of 5 when he started Piano lessons.

In the press David August would probably best be described as techno’s new ‘wunderkind’. Whatever you want to call him, the young and talented musician is more than one to watch this year.

MAXXI SOUNDSYSTEM

Our resident is needing less and less of an introduction as his music finds its way into charts, high profile mixes and rather frequently on popular media outlets such as Radio 1.

His first EP on needwant records has seen huge support from R1’s Jaymo & Andy George (who put him in their Future Stars of 2012 show) and DJs across the board from Maceo Plex, Danny Daze, Tensnake, Morgan Geist and Aeroplane to Tiefschwarz, Groove Armada and Sasha. Remixes in 2011 have also been flying out for the likes of Hercules & Love Affair, The 2 Bears and Parallel Dance Ensemble, the latter of which hit the #1 spot on Beatport’s indie dance chart and featured both in Magician’s and Aeroplane’s mixtapes in Jan and is getting played by everyone from Erol Alkan to Soul Clap.

2012 is set to be a big year for Sam with new original material already signed to Futureboogie and Wolf Music plus a remix for the re-issue of classic disco label SAM Records (his track has been picked for a special vinyl-only release) due out in Feb he is now concentrating on new original material plus a trip to Miami for the WMC.
