By 2005, The Garden Zadar had already earned a reputation as a haven for music lovers in search of chilled out sounds, smiling faces and memorable moments. So much so that the owner of the Pinija Hotel in the nearby village of Petrcane invited us to take on an event space that had been laid dormant for some years…

As soon as we saw this fabulous 70s designed complex secluded on a sun drenched peninsula with a circular nightclub, large outdoor terrace and beachfront cocktail bar – we knew it would be the ideal location for an intimate boutique festival.

So, we renovated the site and pulled in all our contacts gathered through years of burrowing in the dance music underground and The Garden Festival was born in 2006.

 

How your Garden grows

Since then, The Garden Petrcane has grown into one of Europe’s most eligible sites for the staging of boutique music festivals. The pine tree covered peninsula provides a magical backdrop for intimate events, capturing the imagination of everything you could wish for from an outdoor venue.

During the course of a single day you can relax in the sun, swim in crystal clear waters, set sail on our infamous boat parties, watch world class acts on the main stage and dance until dawn in the nightclub.

With all these possibilities available in one place, we thought that limiting the experience to only one festival during the summer would be a crying shame – so the seeds were planted for a complete season of events.

There is so much musical talent out there that we couldn’t possibly provide an adequate showcase for everyone we wanted to hear in just one event. Opening for a complete season allows us the opportunity to do justice to all strands of musical culture right through from jazz, soul and reggae to the latest cutting edge beats.

 

Season’s Greetings!

As of 2010, in addition to The Garden Festival,we have four other festivals planned for the summer season – Soundwave, Suncebeat, Electric Elephant and Stop Making Sense.

Our intention is to invite promoters with a reputation for being underground music connoisseurs of all styles with experience in staging world class events that are guaranteed to attract genuine music lovers. We want all events to compliment each other to give you the opportunity of choosing which weekend suits you best.

Over the coming seasons we will continue to extend an open invitation to promoters from across Europe who have established their own following and share our deep love of music and atmosphere.

New flight routes open every year and with them the opportunity for promoters to stage an event in this magical location.

The Garden Petrcane is situated within walking distance of the 900-year-old picturesque fishing villages of Petrcane, which has enough apartments and campsites to accommodate the capacity of 2,500 visitors to the venue. The village offers a number of excellent seafood restaurants and the locals are both friendly and welcoming.

The Main Stage


The main stage and open-air terrace are situated at the heart of the peninsula, protected by 100-year-old pine trees that provide a canopy of natural shade to escape the summer heat. Spectacular views of Petrcane Bay emerge from behind to create an enchanting backdrop that slowly disappears into the distant Velebit Mountains.

The split-level circular terrace ensures that everyone can enjoy uninterrupted views of the live acts performing, while our newly installed Funktion One sound system guarantees high fidelity music to the masses.

 

Beach Terrace & Tiki Bar


The Tiki Bar and Dance Terrace live life on the very edge of the peninsula, which even features its own small lighthouse! The site is surrounded by panoramic views stretching from Petrcane Village across the azure waters of the Adriatic Sea scattered with small islands.

The newly extended terrace area is a favoured retreat for guests who love to dance beneath the sunshine or stars. Twenty-four-hour party people can sip cocktails on the seafront, dance in the waves, share beautiful sunsets and take midnight swims illuminated by underwater lights – without ever being parted from the music.

And, an outdoor water mist air conditioning system provides respite from the heat during the midday sun.

 

Barbarella’s Discotheque


A flashback from the early 70s, this fabulous circular nightclub was in desperate need of some loving attention before we recreated it with a classic refurb.

Many of the original design features remain including the spectacular light feature that looms over the sunken dance floor and the upholstered booths that surround it.

With the essential additions such as our world class Funktion One sound system and all-important air conditioning, Barbarella’s Discotheque is the ideal venue for hosting festival after-parties – and this season will be holding regular club nights in association with top international clubs and event promoters.

 

Argonaughty Boat Parties


For those auditioning for drama on the high seas, the Argonaughty boat parties have become a legendary experience for a fun-loving crowd of festival goers.

As many as two-hundred ship mates can take to the seas twice daily aboard our beautifully restored wooden sailing boat, The Argonaughty, for four hours of non-stop frolics afloat. Guests can feel the gentle waves lapping beneath their dancing feet as they gaze over beautiful sunsets and good vibrations.
