In 2004, after stumbling across the derelict garden of an abandoned hotel that had long been left for dead in Croatia’s ancient City of Zadar, we decided to breathe new life into this unique location…

 

Don’t call it a comeback

Since the site’s resurrection, The Garden Zadar has become established as the best loved and most peaceful addition to Croatia’s nightlife and culture.

Settled on the Dalmatian coastline, the open terrace bar faces relaxing views of Zadar’s city walls and harbour while sunrays dance across the waves of the surrounding Adriatic Sea.

 

Tune in and drop out

From the moment you enter through The Gardens’ gates into the spacious outdoor seating areas.

In fact, the most taxing decision you may have to make all day is where best to sit and enjoy the magical atmosphere – whether it’s reclining on a 30m seating wave littered with day beds overlooking the sea or nesting on comfortable sofas beneath the sunshine, dappled shade or a constellation of stars.

Music has access to all areas courtesy of our individually zoned sound system, which ensures quality sound and the ability to control the EQ and volume in each separate zone - which comes to life when one of our top international guests are invited to play for the evening.

WHAT’S NEW?

 

The Garden Zadar is now in its seventh season - but there are no signs of fading beauty and this year the site has even been given a small facelift…

 

Curl up in a cabana

The stone terrace sofa area is perfect for small private functions and there are now three more cabanas at the opposite end of the Garden, which share the same intimate ambience beneath a canopy of trees. All cabanas have their own personal waitress service, which promises prompt, high quality service.

Other changes include an all-new LED colour change lighting system, architectural gardening and the adaptation of a water feature to create another seating wave.

Food for thought

Over the years, so many people have suggested that if they could dine alfresco in the tranquil surroundings of The Garden Zadar then their experience would be complete.

So, we’ve called on the culinary expertise of Restaurant Kastel from Hotel Bastion to provide a small but mouth-watering menu reflecting Dalmatian cuisine with an international twist.

Head chef of Kastel, Ivan Buovac, has many years of experience in the region and uses locally-sourced fish, meat and produce to deliver fresh dishes direct to your table.
